Electives & Clubs
Students will utilize a variety of artistic mediums and will be encouraged to use their creative abilities.
In Choir you will:
Make new friends
Make great music
Learn to entertain
Learn to make people listen, laugh, and cry
Learn how to read music (it’s like another language!)
Be part of something great!
Students enrolled in Dance will express their creativity through dance as an art form as they learn to appreciate and perform ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, ballroom, and world dance styles.
Students interested in auditioning for the Dance Team should read all of the information and return the completed forms when they arrive for the audition workshop on Monday, March 3rd.
Students enrolled in Theater will learn a variety theatrical endeavors, with an emphasis on appreciating, exploring, and performing theater as an art form.
Band & Orchestra
Will the school be providing/renting instruments?
The school will not be providing instruments. We are currently working on acquiring funds to purchase only a few select instruments, such as Tubas and Percussion that are traditionally not rented to students.
Where can I purchase supplies for Band class?
Music & Arts will be providing all music-related supplies such as books, reeds, cleaning supplies, metronomes/tuners, and music stands.
Are beginners able to play percussion (drums)?
Beginners will be placed on one of six instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Cornet (Trumpet), Trombone, and Baritone (Euphonium). This will allow for better homogeneous study of music during the critical beginning stages of learning an instrument. Those students who show commitment, dedication, and quality musicianship will become candidates for moving to Percussion, French Horn, Tuba, Oboe, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, and Baritone Saxophone at a later date.
Can my child do both band/choir? band/orchestra?
Please check with your school's counselor for accurate information regarding elective enrollment. In general, students should be able to do two music ensembles as long as their schedule allows for it. However, 6th graders may only choose one elective.
